Timbuk2 Designs Inc. has appointed Perry Klebahn as chief executive officer. He replaces Mark Dwight, and will assume the post officially on Dec. 11.
Klebahn, who has more than 16 years of outdoor industry experience and an extensive background in product design, marketing and engineering, is currently teaching at Stanford’s Institute of Design’s d.school. He plans to continue to teach classes at the d.school.
"Timbuk2 is an iconic brand that lives at the crossroads of urban and outdoor, offering products that feature everyday functionality and quality design," Klebahn said. "The company is a pioneer in mass customization and specialty, multi-channel retailing through Internet, retail and wholesale. I look forward to joining the great team of people at Timbuk2 and working with them to develop the brand and the products."
Klebahn was the creator, founder and chief executive officer of Atlas Snowshoes where he designed, manufactured and marketed the first high performance snowshoe. Klebahn then went on to become executive vice president of Patagonia where he managed the company’s direct business as well as the North American wholesale, operations and marketing groups.
"Perry has the perfect combination of skills to be an outstanding leader for Timbuk2," said Scott Elaine Case, board member and managing director of VMG Equity Partners, an investor in the company. "He is a native of San Francisco who has demonstrated a lifelong passion that blends the disciplines of product design and engineering in order to build products and brands."
