VMG Partners

David co-founded VMG Partners in 2005 and currently focuses on all aspects of the Fund’s investment strategy, execution and portfolio company management.

David serves on the Boards of Natural Balance Pet Foods, PLV Studio, Pretzel Crisps, Timbuk2, Vega, and previously served on the Board of Colorescience prior to its merger with SkinMedica.

Prior to VMG Partners, David served as the President and COO of The Firm, a Los Angeles-based talent management firm, which was the predecessor to LBI Entertainment.  At The Firm, David led the acquisition of Pony International and later served as President of the company until its highly successful sale in 2003.

Prior to The Firm, David was an attorney with the law firm of Alshuler, Grossman, Stein & Kahan from 1991 to 1999, becoming Partner in 1995.  Prior to that, he practiced law for two years with Paul, Hastings, Janofsky &Walker.

David received his J.D. with Honors from Harvard Law School and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Boston University with a B.A. in Economics.

Kara co-founded VMG Partners in 2005 and currently focuses on all aspects of the Fund’s investment strategy, execution and portfolio company management.

Kara serves on the Boards of KIND Snacks, Pirate Brands, PLV Studio, Pretzel Crisps, Speck Products, Kernel Season’s, and previously served on the Boards of Colorescience prior to its merger with SkinMedica and of Waggin’ Train, before it was sold to Nestlé Purina PetCare.

Prior to VMG Partners, Kara was a Vice President at TSG Consumer Partners where she was involved in the sourcing, due diligence, execution and monitoring of a majority of TSG Consumer Partners’ portfolio companies.

Prior to TSG Consumer Partners, Kara was an Associate at private equity firm Arena Capital Partners, where she focused on investment opportunities in consumer, health care and other related industries.

Prior to that, Kara was an Analyst in the M&A department of Schroders PLC in New York City.

Kara received her B.A., Magna Cum Laude, in Economics and German from Colgate University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Jarom joined VMG Partners in 2012 and currently focuses on sourcing, due diligence, deal execution and portfolio company oversight.

Prior to VMG Partners, Jarom was a Senior Vice President in the M&A practice at Moelis & Company. Prior to that, he was part of the M&A group at UBS Investment Bank and also served as a Manager in Treasury Strategy at American Express.

Jarom received his B.A., Summa Cum Laude, in Computer Science from New York University and an M.B.A. with High Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Jarom has been a CFA charterholder since 2006.

Angad joined VMG Partners in 2010 and currently focuses on due diligence, deal execution, and portfolio company oversight.

Prior to VMG Partners, Angad was an analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions group at UBS Investment Bank. In that role, he helped advise companies in various industries as they evaluated and executed acquisition and sale opportunities.

Angad received his B.S. in Commerce with a dual concentration in finance and accounting from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.

Mary joined VMG Partners in 2007 and is responsible for all aspects of accounting, financial management, reporting, operations, and investor relations. In addition, Mary participates in deal execution and portfolio company oversight.

Prior to VMG Partners, Mary spent almost a decade in various roles within privately and publicly held companies with a strong focus on partnership structures, administration, acquisitions and related integration, technology, investor relations, all areas of finance, accounting and tax.

Before working in the industry, Mary was a Manager at Deloitte in their San Francisco audit practice.

Mary received her B.S. in Accounting from the University of Southern California. She is a Certified Public Accountant and member of the AICPA, California Society of CPAs and Private Equity CFO Association.

Jon joined VMG Partners in 2012 and currently focuses on due diligence, deal execution, and portfolio company oversight. Prior to joining VMG Partners, Jon was an associate at Castanea Partners where he completed investments in the consumer products sector and worked closely with portfolio companies on a variety of tactical and strategic projects.

Prior to joining Castanea Partners, Jon was an investment banker at Harris Williams & Company, where he focused on M&A in the consumer products, healthcare, technology, and automotive sectors. Jon received his B.S. in Business Administration from the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

Michael co-founded VMG Partners in 2005 and currently focuses on all aspects of the Fund’s investment strategy, execution and portfolio company management.

Michael serves on the Boards of KIND Snacks, Mighty Leaf Tea, Pirate Brands, Pretzel Crisps, Timbuk2, Speck Products, Kernel Season’s, and previously served on the Board of Waggin’ Train before it was sold to Nestlé Purina PetCare.

Prior to VMG Partners, Michael was a Managing Director at TSG Consumer Partners. He was integrally involved in all aspects of the investment process and served as a member of the Investment Committee.

Prior to TSG Consumer Partners, Michael spent two years at Lehman Brothers Inc. advising consumer product companies in merger and acquisitions and capital raising activities. Before joining Lehman Brothers, he spent a total of thirteen years at PaineWebber in the mergers and acquisitions group with a special focus on the consumer products industry.

Michael received his A.B. in Economics from Davidson College and his M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.

Stephanie joined VMG Partners in 2011 and currently focuses on due diligence, deal execution and portfolio company oversight.

Prior to VMG Partners, Stephanie was an analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions group at RBC Capital Markets where she worked on both sell-side and buy-side transactions in various industries including consumer, energy, health care, financial services, technology, and power and utility, amongst others. She also previously interned for the Corporate Finance team at Abbott Laboratories.

Stephanie received her B.S. from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

Carle joined VMG Partners in 2012 and currently focuses on due diligence, deal execution, and portfolio company oversight.

Prior to VMG Partners, Carle was an associate at Summit Partners where he was responsible for sourcing and executing growth equity investments in the consumer and business services sectors. In that role, Carle also helped advise multiple portfolio companies in business development.

Carle received his B.A. with Honors in Government from Harvard University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Robin joined VMG Partners in 2009 and currently focuses on sourcing, due diligence, deal execution, and portfolio company oversight. He serves on the Boards of PLV Studio and Vega.

Prior to VMG Partners, Robin was a consultant at The Boston Consulting Group where he worked in several industries including consumer products and retail, and across multiple practice areas including brand strategy, merger integration, and organizational design.

Prior to BCG, Robin worked as a middle school history teacher at The SEED Public Charter School in Washington, D.C.

Robin received his B.A. with honors in Economics and East Asian Studies from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Wayne joined VMG Partners in 2008 and currently focuses on sourcing, due diligence, deal execution, and portfolio company oversight. He serves on the Boards of Mighty Leaf Tea and Speck Products.

Prior to VMG Partners, Wayne served as the CFO and VP of Corporate Development of Thomason Autogroup, one of the 125 largest automotive retail organizations in the country at the time.

During his tenure at Thomason, Wayne assisted in the expansion of the California-based company into Texas through acquisition. He also led the re-branding effort of the automotive retailer to Thomason Autogroup.

Prior to joining Thomason Autogroup, Wayne was an investment banker at RBC Capital Markets, participating in over $900 million in M&A and capital raising transactions. He was also an associate at Deloitte & Touche LLP and is a licensed CPA in the State of California.

Wayne received his B.S.C. from The Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University.
