Bill & Leigh Keith

“Working with my siblings makes for a fun-loving environment. Every batch we’ve mixed, all the wins and losses, we've done it together.”

How did growing up in a small town shape you?

Willow Creek was a town of 1500 nestled in the mountains with fresh trees and flowing streams. I found peace in nature whenever things got chaotic – and with twelve siblings it did! That need to find peace in chaos and that practice stays with me today.

Why did partnering with a growth equity firm make sense for your business?

After we rebranded and saw, based on the data, an opportunity to reach new heights in fresh snacking we started thinking about getting the right P.E. behind us. We wanted to use that backed leverage to hire the best talent and stay ahead of the competition. One of my biggest fear was/is getting beat with my own idea.

What has VMG helped you realize about your company?

A ton, what did they not help me with?! I realized I needed a data analytics team so I could verify or counter my instincts and be more data-driven. VMG showed me how to manage my senior leadership team with strong KPI's and achievable measurable objectives. I could go on and on...

If you could go back and advise your just-started-a-business self, what would you say?

I would tell myself don't reinvent the wheel. Go ask and find mentors to help you find the right direction. I learned a lot from my mistakes, but wise men learn from others and I should've asked more questions early on.
