Christine Wang

Explosive short term growth is great, but long term success is what changes the world.

She’s always aspired to greatness, in herself and the companies she helps grow. Christine tells us about brand love, growing up an only child, and what it takes to create a legacy.

Happiest place on earth

I’ve always loved Disney since I was a kid. I think it’s the ultimate dream-selling brand. It packages the hope that somewhere out there magic really does exist.

Baby-sitter’s club

My very first job was baby-sitting! It was a special experience because as an only child I loved feeling like an older sister. I learned how to gain their respect while remaining friends.

On a mission

The fact that we are mission-driven and care about sustainability and legacy. There’s a strong sense of respect for what the founders do. We are there to be the most helpful we can be without being disruptive.

I love seeing the product grow and evolve and the company mature, all while retaining its original energy.

What would we know about how you grew up that might help define who you are today?

Well, it was quite a journey. I was originally born in China and spent 5 years alternating schools in China and Japan. Finally when I was 10, we moved to the States and started all over. The frequency of change didn’t faze me - I actually really enjoyed it! It made me stronger and more adaptive.

Ok so by age 10. You land in the States. Why kind of kid were you?

Super energetic and curious and always, from an early age, aspirational – to be my own best version of myself.

First job?

I got to try my hand at a lot of different thing when I was young, but my very first was babysitting! It was a special experience because as an only child I loved feeling like an older sister. I learned how to gain their respect while remaining friends.

What were some of your first brand loves from your childhood?

I’ve always loved Disney since I was a kid. I think it’s the ultimate dream-selling brand. It packages the hope that somewhere out there magic really does exist.

What do you find most exciting about working with founder-driven companies and brands?

These companies and brands are brainchildren of founders, grown from an idea into a real product. Nothing is more inspiring than stories of how founders got to where they are – I truly appreciate their tireless drive.

Sounds like it aligns with your aspirational mindset! What about working with these partners is most satisfying to you?

I love seeing the product grow and evolve and the company mature, all while retaining its original energy.

And VMG? What about this culture attracted you in the first place?
